Just a whisper

It beats.
My heart pounds and sings,
As my breath fights to escape my lungs,

So I hyperventilate, unable to breathe,
I think to do nothing else but run or, better yet, fly,
I sigh and pretend it doesn't bother me, but...

I was built different,
My heart sits in my chest but lives on the road,
Every time you leave, every time I fail, every time I hurt,
It sprints, running away so fast, and yet it doesn't move an inch

I know you don't speak my internal language,
But at least tell me you feel my cry for help?
Or do you not know that we bleed the same?

I'm a lost cause, but at least whisper to me and tell me that you understand.
