Missed call

Dear Mr. G,

I called the home office the other day,
but the angel on duty must have been on sick leave
because I went straight to voicemail.

So I write to you this text instead,
A modern-day version of a love letter
hoping you won't leave me on read.

Am grateful for the blessings and the lessons
But I do have a minor complaint.

When I was still back home
I must have been very eager to join earth.
For I forgot to pass by the joy department to pick my share.

And thus in a little corner of my soul lies a darkness
It's not really sadness but rather a dark and hungry empty hole.
One that I can't help but revisit when I lie alone.

Now I know you do not make defects
But I needed to let you know
And maybe you'll help me correct or accept my deformity.
