Man in the Mirror.
I know a creature that smells fear.
Digs deep beneath your surface and taps into your anxiety
It senses the blood pump in your veins when you see it
It knows that you see it as a threat or as invalid
But If only you knew.
If only you realized that by fearing it fears you
If only you knew that it meant no harm
And wishes to either be left alone or gazed upon with a gentle eye
I know a creature that doesn't know it's safe
when you run it attacks hoping that you realize its intention was self-preservation
We all know that creature
It sits in our chests and guides our every move
Well, long story short?
That creature is your Heart vs. The thought of losing what you have.
